Rainforest to Reef
  • Day 01 – Arrive in Antananarivo
Arrival at Ivato International airport.After custom clearance, meeting and assistance by an English speaking agent.Then short city tour in Antananarivo ( Tana for shorter), capital of Madagascar.Overnight at Relais Des Plateaux/Ivotel on bed and breakfast. 
  • Day 02   Tana/Perinet
After breakfast, departure to Perinet (Malagasy name is ANDASIBE) for 3 hours drive eastward (about 150km from Tana) through a wooded scenery . Lunch at Vakona Forest Lodge hotel in Perinet .In the afternoon, visit of the MANTADIA national park where inhabit a large variety of endemic birds and many species of lemurs such as the Bamboo lemurs. It is also an opportunity to find out the beauty of the evergreen rainforest. Then come back and overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge/Feon’ ny Ala on full board. 
  • Day 03 – Perinet
After a delicious breakfast at Vakona, visit of the special reserve of INDRI – the small eastern rainforest reserve of Perinet, one of the most visited nature reserve. Many species of lemurs are found here, especially the largest one: the mythical INDRI and their famous cry. Then visit of the village of PERINET.After lunch, visit of the VAKONA’S private reserve to see, touch and play with 4 species of lemurs such as the black and white ruffed lemur, the common brown, the diademed and the ring-tailed.Later in the evening, after dark, guide nocturnal walk to spot for mouse lemur, woolly lemur and pigmy chameleon.Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge/Feon’ ny Ala on full board. 
  • Day 04 – Perinet/Tana
After a delicious breakfast, before leaving to Tana, visit of the small eastern rainforest reserve of Perinet, the most visited nature reserve.Many species of lemurs are founded here, especially the largest one: the mythical INDRI an their famous cry.Then come back to Tana but before, 60 km from Perinet ( Andasibe), stop at Pereyras reserve also called reptile farm. This place is famous for its chameleons. They breed here the biggest one in the world with about 60cm long (the Parson’s) and the smallest one with about 3 cm long (Brookesia). They breed other chameleon’s species in between these sizes and also the amazing leaf-tailed gecko and frogs.Lunch is available in this private reserve.Then come back and arrival in Tana for an overnight at  Relais des Plateaux/Ivotel on bed and breakfast . 
  • Day 05 – Tana/Maroantsetra
After breakfast – transfer to the airport – fly to Maroantsetra  - check in to the hotels – overnight at Relais Masoala/Coco Beach Hotel on full board .

  • Day 06 – Maroantsetra/Masoala

After an early breakfast, depart Maroantsetra by boat for the voyage across the Baie d'Antongil to the Masoala Forest Lodge at Tampolo. The journey of 40 km takes between 1 -3 hours, passing close by Nosy Mangabe, with the possibility of dolphin and whale sightings in season and the thickly forested mountains of the peninsula as a dramatic backdrop to the destination.
Settle into the camp, with a hot or cold beverage, depending on the weather.
Explore the camp and nearby beaches and forest or maybe a quick snorkel on the reef before lunch.
After lunch enjoy a short siesta, followed by a guided walk along the stunning coastline to view the sacred island at Tampolo point.
Return by sunset, in time for a hot shower and sun-downers on the beach before dinner.

  • Day 07 – Masoala

After breakfast, a guided walk into the primary forest of the Masoala National Park to view the birds, lemurs and countless other creatures endemic to this forest.
Return to the camp for a well earned lunch and rest and possibly a short kayak outing in the evening for the energetic, with the option of a night walk to view the nocturnal wildlife after dinner.
Overnight in the Masoala Forest Lodge on full board.

  • Day 08 – Masoala
 After breakfast, a guided pirogue trip and walk through the coastal forest to the cascades of the Tampolo River, with the chance of sighting some more of the wildlife endemic to this area.
After a relaxing afternoon on the nearby private beaches, an evening of entertainment and high spirits in the camp with a visit of the local traditional Malagasy music and dance group from the small local community of the area.

  • Day 09 – Masoala/Maroantsetra/Tana

After an early breakfast, board the boat for the return voyage to Maroantsetra and then transfer to the airport for the flight to Tana. Overnight at Relais des Plateaux/Ivotel on bed and breakfast

  • Day 10 – Tana/Out: Transfer to the airport – fly out.
